How I Did my Bath Remodel for FREE!

Do you have an UGLY room? One that you shut the door and lock anytime someone comes over to visit? I did, and unfortunately, it was my main bathroom. When we moved into this house, I knew that there was going to be a lot of work to be done. Our kitchen was, of course, first priority. It was not even functional and extremely outdated. So, I have been living with this super ugly bathroom for 7 months… YIKES! It was the kind of ugly, that no matter how much you cleaned, it just never seemed clean. Well, I FINALLY did something about it…lol

Since we are now a 1 income family, money is always a concern. So I had to be creative on this remodel. The items that stayed were the shower and toilet, but everything else got completely gutted… By ME!

You would not believe how much money you can save, just by doing the work yourself. And believe me… If I can do it.. ANYONE can.

Ok, so now you are wondering… HOW did I do it for FREE?

Easy…

I have a smart phone, and dang it, if I am going to pay that bill, I am going to make it work for me! It took me just about 7 months to save up enough points, and credits and earnings… But it was worth it in the long run!

Here is what I used and how much I earned from each app I have:

Viggle: You check in while watching your favorite shows by opening the app, then it “listens” to what you are watching and you verify the check in and earn points to redeem for gift cards! Once you complete the check in, you can close the app, once the show is over you will get a notification of how many points you earned! I earned $240 in Lowes Gift Cards!

Ibotta – This is an AWESOME app! It gives you offers where you can earn cash back right into your paypal account! If you see an offer you will use, you can accept it, buy it, then snap a picture of your receipt and the money will be in your account within minutes! The best part… You can STACK these offers with coupons to make a lot of great deals FREE or even MONEY MAKERS! I earned $215 in my Paypal Account!

Endorse - I just downloaded this app, and so far I am liking it! You can earn a percentage of cash back for making certain purchases! I earned $185 in my paypal account!

So I had a total of $640 to work with for this remodel.

Here is what I bought:

Paint: FREE! I took a darker blue paint that I had used for another project, and mixed it with a white paint that was here when we moved it. Took it to Lowes, and they gave it a good ol’ shake and I had a brand new color for the walls!

Flooring: $65. Since that bathroom is soooo small (only 5.5ft by 7ft not including the bath), I was able to score a remanent piece of flooring for dirt cheap!

Lighting: $16 each. Found them on clearance!

Cabinet: $315. This was my most expensive purchase, but because the old cabinet was such an odd size, I was limited on what I could do.

Countertop: $89. Snagged the awesome granit countertop with sink at the Habitat for Humanity resell store! SCORE!

New Fixtures (Towel Bar, TP Holder & Hand Towel ring): $22 for all 3! Snagged them on closeout at our local Home Improvement store!

Miscellaneous (Caulk, plumbing stuff and all that jazz): $48. I tried to reuse some of the old pipping for the sink, but because of technical difficulty, I needed to get new pipping and of course, caulk to clean and seal everything up.

Total Spent: $571!

Which gives me $69 to use towards decorating! YAY!
